Location
Sibu is located in Sarawak, in East Malaysia. Sibu is an inland town that is located at the convergence of
two rivers namely the Rajang River and the Igan River. Sibu is situated an estimated distance of 183km from
the state capital of Sarawak, Kuching.
Overview
Sibu is a small friendly town that is famous for the longhouses of Iban and Ulu locals. There
are a few major attractions that attract tourists from every corner of the world. One of the many
major attractions is the Iban Longhouse. It is a must to visit the Iban Longhouse when you first step
foot in Sibu. There, you can have a unique experience in understanding more about their customs,
lifestyles and cultures. Besides, you can take a look at their special and traditional outfit, not to
mention their own cultural dance and traditional music. There, you can have a tate of the traditional
rice wine named 'tuak' and enjoy Iban's local delicacies.

The main purpose of the floating supermarket is to provide services and selling goods to the locals that
live in the longhouses along Rejang. To experience more of the multiple cultures of Malaysia, you can pay
a visit to the popular temples - Tua Pek Kong Temple and Goddess of Mercy Pagoda. The temple is the oldest
and well preserved in the whole if Sibu. You can make offerings in the temple and climb the pagoda to have
a whole new different view of Sibu.
Accommodation in Sibu is almost the same as everywhere else, with a wide range of options. They offer

local delicacies waiting for you to have a taste. Besides, souvenirs and fashion items can be found in the
night market too.
Transport
The best way to get to Sibu is definitely by flight. If you are from Kuching, you can take the express
boat to get to Sibu but it will take as long as 4 and the half hours. In Sibu itself, you can get around
by the public buses or by hailing a taxi and rent a car.
